Day 22: I Met A Boy
You met a boy today, and you don’t know how to act. But not for the typical reasons.
You’ve been single for so long that you no longer remember what it’s like to have a boy be interested in you. To spend hours on the phone, drawing shapeless forms in the air, as you talk to your beloved. Or atleast you hope he’ll become one.
You don’t remember what it’s like to constantly check your phone for his messages or a missed call from him.
Something happens during your day and you mentally file it away to tell him later. You catch yourself and you pause. It’s not love yet but there’s definitely something there.
You’ve been talking to him but you thought it was harmless conversations. Harmless flirting too. Now you feel like you are entwined in his world and him in yours. You wonder if it was ever truly harmless.
You are planing your day and you make space for him in your schedule. The intentionality with which you do this is a dead giveaway.
You are panicking because it looks like this might not be just a random boy afterall. He’s become lover material and you worry. What if he doesn’t feel this way? What if all he wants is friendship? You don’t want to bring it up because it’s too soon.
You hyperventilate and get anxious about it. You are pacing your room and wondering whether or not to text him. Phone in one hand, while you bite on the fingers in the other.
Finally, you come to a decision. No, you are not telling the boy you like him, yet. You need a second opinion.
You scroll through your phone to find your best friend’s name. You find it and you begin to text: So I met a boy…….
